Britas hus
Britas hus
The original for Britas hus comes from a farm in Bergby, Gävleborg County. The farm is a family farm dating back to the 17th century. Britas hus is the main building on the farm and was completed in 1895. The original wallpaper is in the drawing room of the house. The drawing room has an elegant style, and the wallpaper demonstrates the large winding floral patterns that were very common in the late 19th century. In designs typical of the period, the plants were free, fantastic, and mixed with shapes from both the Rococo and Baroque periods. In the early part of the period, the colours were dark but became increasingly lighter. In the 1890s, the most popular background colour was light cream beige, as in our pink version of Britas hus.
