Elsagarden
Elsagarden
The Swedish Society of Industrial Design, founded in 1845, tried to raise the standard of Swedish handicrafts early on, for example by obtaining pattern originals from prominent artists and craftsmen. At the 1917 Liljevalchs home exhibition, the society presented this pattern by architect Uno Åhrén, among others. With its connection to older pattern types and its strict stylisation - which differs from the nature-inspired patterns of the Art Nouveau period - it is typical of the stylistic ideals of its time.
